Humanitarian Service Events
NPIEN members have participated in a number of events as part of its mission to “Strengthen the Village”
Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches Drive and the American Red Cross Blood Drive Our members have donated blood to these drives.
Asian Pacific Islander American Scholars NPIEN has participated in annual conferences of this organization for over fifteen years, as invited by former Congressman Dr. Robert Underwood of Guam. NPIEN members have spoken at the conferences for students in Washington D.C. and also participated in mentoring programs by reviewing student resumes.
Broken Loaf Pantry, Lakewood First United Methodist Church We enjoy supporting needy families and distributing food and clothing twice-a-month, since 2017.
City of Lakewood Project Shepherd Our NPIEN members have worked for a week every December distributing food and presents to family in need since 2004
City of Lakewood Halloween Carnivals Our members have also worked as volunteers at the carnivals since 2010
Lakewood High School Music Department Sponsor We were sponsors of the school’s musical since 2001 Los Cerritos YMCA golf tournament, PASS Golf Tournament, Mulipipi Golf Tournament, Kris Kringle Golf Tournament, TEAM Referral Network Golf Tournament We have provided sponsorship for these tournaments as tee sign or door prize sponsors.
Lakewood Education Foundation Golf Tournament We have worked at registration, at longest drive contests, and served as a sponsor and provided door prizes since 2000.
Lakewood Community Run and Healthy Downey TLC Run Our members have run these 5K and 10K races which support Lakewood and Downey nonprofits and the Downey Unified School District.
Living Help Center Walk for Life Sponsored by the Living Help Center in the City od Downey, we solicited sponsors for their walk-a-thon. The Living Help Center Golf Tournament is now the Center’s major fundraiser and we have volunteered on the “On the Green Hole” and donated door prizes since 2000.
Los Angeles County Office of Education Asian Pacific Heritage Fundraiser and Luncheon We have sponsored a vendor table and scholarship funding for the heritage group since 2009 and also assisted in the creation of the Aloha Ukulele Ensemble
Linaka/Hoku Mae’ole Polynesian Dancers Luau We have sponsored the halau/dance group since 2003, including vendor table and the inclusion of the dancers at NPIEN events
Miss South Pacific Pageant , Carson High School Scholarship Fund, National Office of Samoan Affairs Fundraiser, APIA Vote Presidential Town Hall Sponsor, Association of Los Angeles County School Administrators Scholarship, Samoan Achievers International (SAI) Awards Banquet , Tafesilafa’I Pacific Islander Festival We provided financial support and scholarship funds for these organizations.
Together Samoa/Tsunami Relief Fund Supporting Saleapaga Primary School We collected donations to support Salepaga Primary School following the Tsunami in 2009
Weekend in Polynesia Members have volunteered as security for this event.
