The first two students from the States of Washington and Oregon were recipients of the NPIEN Christina Diaz Scholar Award

Amber Enomoto Haole, a graduate of South Salem High School, Salem Keizer Public School District is a student at Western Oregon University. She was a catcher on South Salem's softball team and earned a 3.14 grade point average.

Ashey Helenihi is a graduate of Henrietts Lacks Bioscience High School, Clark College, Vancouver, Washington, Evergreen School District. She excels in Hula dance, was Vice President of the Asian Pacific Islander Club,and works with the Ke Kui Foundation,Council Member of She earned a 3.79 GPA in high school and is now attending the Universty of Southern California. Ashley earned an NPIEN Scholarship of $500.
